Zhou Qiang re-elected head of SPC

Zhou Qiang was re-elected president of the Supreme People's Court (SPC) at the first session of the 13th National People's Congress on March 18.

He was first elected president of the SPC in 2013.

Born in April 1960, in Huangmei county, Hubei province, Zhou studied civil law at the Southwest University of Political Science Law and holds a master’s degree in law.

Zhou began his career in August 1976 and joined the Communist Party in September 1978.

He started to work at the Ministry of Justice in 1985 and became director of the ministry's legislation department in 1995. He spent the following 11 years as an official with the Communist Youth League.

In 2010, Zhou was appointed Party secretary of South China’s Hunan province, and three years later was elected chief justice of the top court. (Source: english.court.gov.cn)
