Shanghai Maritime Court hears its first administrative case

On December 14, 2017, Shanghai Maritime Court heard an administrative case, in which the plaintiff refused to accept an administrative sanction and filed a case against the Maritime Administration. It's the first maritime administrative case accepted by Shanghai Maritime Court since the Supreme People’s Court declared maritime courts have jurisdiction over maritime administrative cases. In the two-hour trial, Deputy Director-General of Wusong Maritime Administration appeared in court as the defendant. Over 20 staff members from Shanghai Maritime Administration and the relevant institutions sat in on the trial.
