Shanghai Maritime Court and Jiangsu Lianyungang Intermediate People 's Court sign a cooperation agreement

Connecting the Judicial Demands for the Construction of a Large Channel of Land-Ocean Transportation with “the Belt and Road Initiative”


On August 29, Shanghai Maritime Court and Lianyungang Intermediate People's Court of Jiangsu Province held a ceremony for signing the “Framework Agreement on Cooperation and Construction for the Service and Guarantee of ‘The Belt and Road Initiative’”. By co-working and giving full play to their advantages, the two courts will connect the judicial demands with the construction of a large channel of land-ocean transportation under “Maritime Silk Road” and “the Silk Road Economic Belt”, and together to provide more efficient and judicial service and guarantee.


At present, the construction of "the Belt and Road Initiatives" is continuing to advance. Shanghai and Lianyungang hold strong location advantages in the construction of “Maritime Silk Road” and “the Silk Road Economic Belt”. Lianyungang Dispatched Division of Shanghai Maritime Court has effectively formed the connection with Lianyungang Intermediate People's Court in the judicial service and guarantee for the construction of a large channel of land-ocean transportation under "the Belt and Road Initiative".


According to the agreement, the two courts are going to strengthen the communication in judicial work for cases involving “the Belt and Road Initiatives”, enhancing the quality of foreign-related trial work, and creating an excellent commercial and legal environment. Also, the two courts will work on actively resolving disputes, and jointly promoting the construction of the mechanism of diversified disputes resolution, as well as maintaining a harmonious and stable social environment. Furthermore, the two courts will strengthen their implementation of work. And in order to protect the parties’ legitimate right of winning the case, the courts will establish an omnidirectional and tridimensional implementation and coordination mechanism. With the advantages of jurisdictions in two areas, the two courts will together carry out co-operative measures, such as circuit trials and convenience for lawsuits of parties, to extend the functions of judicial services.


President Zhao Hong of Shanghai Maritime Court, and President Cai Shaogang of Lianyungang Intermediate People 's Court signed the Agreement on behalf of the two cooperation courts respectively. Vice President Zhou Jiye of Jiangsu High People's Court, Vice President Chen Yajuan of Shanghai High People’s Court, and Mr. Wang Libin, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of CPC Lianyungang Municipla Committee attended the signing ceremony.
